About Us

Constance and Catrina Melody started knitting and at a young age they were taught by the mother who had learned from her mother and so on. Their mother believed in the importance of young girls learning useful skills like mending or making clothes if necessary. They have since made hundreds of pairs of socks between them and countless sweaters every Christmas. They started the store with the support and help of their children, some of whom have taught their own kids fiber arts and teach workshops in the store. When they aren't working on a project or yarn shopping they are spending time with their families and their many grandchildren.

The yarn and wool used in the store are supplied mostly by local artisans and farmers. All of the materials are hand-chosen by the owners so you can rest-assured knowing that you're getting only the best when you shop with us. Catrina's eldest son supplies a majority of the wool used for the spinning classes and the felting workshops from his sheep farm located only a few miles from the store, and the other suppliers know the owners and staff personally. Some of the suppliers even lead the occasional workshop showcasing their unique skillset.

The instructors and employees of Knittin' Kittens are lifelong learners and all have a deep appreciation for the craft. Everyone who comes in the door is treated like family and the staff is always willing to discuss projects or ideas. All of our employees here truly loves what they do. They are more than happy to help you with or to hear about your latest projects. With years of experience and countless "learning experiences" among them, the staff will more than likely know the solution to your predicament or at the very least they'll know who to ask.
